Canterbury Basin is a lightly explored basin on the eastern margin of South Island, New Zealand. Recent licence rounds and drilling has focused exploration interest in the region’s onshore and offshore prospectivity. This three to five day field trip explores outcrops ranging in age from mid Cretaceous to Quaternary, providing analogues of rock types in the subsurface parts of the basin.
