Sliding Lands Hōretireti Whenua: Personas

Surveying Cyclone Gabrielle Landslides

Nine persona profiles have been developed, representing diverse end users of landslide models and risk information. The personas capture real-world decision needs in accessible language, focusing on key questions end users ask rather than technical specifications

How they were developed

The personas were developed through 60-minute interviews with personnel across the landslide risk management spectrum, exploring how participants use landslide information, their communication challenges, and decision needs. Each persona combines insights from multiple interviews with people in similar roles to represent common patterns and needs, rather than individual responses.

Their purpose

The personas help researchers and modellers develop user-specific model outputs, identify high-impact research areas, frame outputs appropriately for different stakeholders, and identify research gaps. They support the Hōretireti Whenua / Sliding Lands project by informing user-centred decision scenarios that guide effective landslide risk model product development, bridging technical capabilities with practical decision-making requirements.
