Nationwide Groundwater Recharge Model
Interactive web map
This is an interactive map modelling the monthly data of 1km x 1km rainfall recharge to groundwater, from Jan-2000 – Dec-2014.
The National Groundwater Recharge Model (NGRM) was developed to demonstrate the utility of satellite data and global models by development of a rainfall recharge model that is consistent over all regions of New Zealand. The NGRM has a 1 km × 1 km model grid that covers most of New Zealand and uses a cell-by-cell soil water balance approach to estimate rainfall recharge.

National Groundwater Recharge Model Data
The National Groundwater Recharge Model is provided in monthly time steps from January 2000 to December 2014 as a netcdf (netCDF4) file that contains five variables: Time, Latitude, Longitude, Recharge, Uncertainty. Data are mapped in the WGS84 Projection (EPSG:4326).
