Geoscience webmap
Interactive web map
Zoom and pan around geoscience webmaps of the Te Riu-a-Māui / Zealandia (TRAMZ) region. These maps are highly customisable: layers can be turned on or off, and transparency changed. Features in layers can be queried. A guide to the functionality of the webmaps is given on the help page.
Overview
The Geoscience data webmap shows a compilation of research data including gridded multibeam bathymetry, gravity and magnetic data. Seismic line tracks, industry and research drillholes and territorial limits are also shown. Geology layers include GNS’s 1:250 000 onland geology and Petlab database sample locations.
There is a separate blank map which doesn’t have any layers pre-loaded, except a Google Maps baselayer. Data layers can be added from various sources including Bathymetric and Tectonic Layers (from TRAMZ in the NZ Library) to customize your map. Projections are Web Mercator (the same as Google Maps).
Custom maps can be saved and/or the layout shared with other users as a permalink.
