ECR and Student Travel Grants

INQUA Travel Grants

The IFG Earthquake Geology and Seismic Hazards (EGSHaz) will try to get funding for travel support from INQUA.
These travel grants can only be used to support Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and Developing-country scientists (DCRs).
If you are not sure whether or not you qualify as an ECR or a DCR, please check the definition at the bottom of this page.
Usually, travel grants are limited to a couple of hundred Euros only (e.g., registration costs). That's our experience from past meetings.
The grant application should include a very short CV, a brief statement on why the research that will be presented fits INQUA and PATA interests, and why the support is needed. The application should not be longer than ONE page in total. We can only fund people who present their research, either oral or as a poster, so make sure you also submitted an abstract.

New Zealand Postgraduate Students

The Geoscience Society of New Zealand is kindly providing grants for 5 New Zealand students to attend the PATA Days meeting.

The funding of $200 per student will be put toward the student registration fee. To qualify the applicants must be enrolled in a postgraduate course at a New Zealand university at the time of the meeting and be presenting a talk or poster at the meeting.

The assessment will be based on:

  • Quality of the abstract and fit with the session to which you are submitting.
  • A short statement (<150 words) on how attendance at PATA Days will benefit your studies.

Students should submit their application, consisting of a copy of your abstract and statement of benefits, by the 7th July, 2017. Outcomes will be notified by the 21st July 2017.
