We undertake a wide range of national and international projects for local authorities, consultancies, industrial and agricultural clients. Through the NZS/ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation system the laboratory uses the very latest technologies producing the most precise and reliable results. The lab also hosts New Zealand's most comprehensive and extensive set of geothermal and groundwater databases. Our laboratory team are supported by in-house multi-disciplinary research skills and have extensive international and national experience.
The New Zealand Geothermal Analytical Laboratory is based at GNS Science in Wairakei, Taupo. Isotopic analysis is carried out at GNS Science’s National Isotope Centre in Wellington.
As part of GNS Science’s Wairakei Research Centre, the New Zealand Geothermal Analytical Laboratory was established in late 1950’s following the development of the Wairakei geothermal power station. In 2012 the lab had a full up-grade, including facilities and equipment, enabling analyses of a vast array of geothermal and groundwater samples including X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Analysis to be performed.
