Bay of Plenty Regional Policy Statement

The second generation Proposed Bay of Plenty Regional Policy Statement (Proposed RPS) has taken a risk-based approach to natural hazards. Publicly notified in November 2010, some provisions are currently under appeal to the Environment Court (including the natural hazard provisions). Notwithstanding this, the Proposed RPS provides an example of how an RPS can incorporate a risk-based approach to natural hazards, particularly around acceptable, tolerable and intolerable risk levels.

Once all appeals have been resolved on the natural hazard provisions, this page will be updated with the operative natural hazard provisions.
