GNS Ion Beam Analysis Research Labo ratory, located in the National Isotope Centre in Lower Hutt, Wellington, is the only ion beam research facility in New Zealand.

We use a wide range of ion beam techniques for elemental analysis and advanced material fabrication.

We provide high resolution quantitative elemental analysis:

  • Trace elemental analysis - all elements in the periodic table
  • Depth profiling - typical resolution 10nm
  • Detection of all elements in the periodic table beyond Mg, and H, Li, B, C, N, O, I
  • Specialised analysis chamber for determining sources of pollution in air, water and soil
  • Non-destructive
