What are they?

  • Cold-blooded, aquatic vertebrates covered in scales.
  • Chondrichthyes (cartilaginous fish): sharks, rays etc.
  • Osteichthyes (bony fish)
  • Conodonts: tooth-like remains from ancient eel-like fish

Used for?

  • studying evolution, biodiversity and animal distribution
  • conodonts are used for biostratigraphy
