NZ map - gshp

Areas in NZ suitable for using ground source heat pumps.

Conductive heat in dry rock and soils throughout the country can be harnessed by geothermal heat pumps. Ground below a depth of 1.5m, and natural water sources, remain at a relatively constant temperature year round.

Geothermal heat pumps can efficiently transfer heat from lower temperature sources (such as soils) to useful higher grade energy (to heat your building), using a small amount of electrical energy.
