Transport to Oamaru
If you decide to fly to Oamaru for the conference, please be advised there are very few flights into and out of Oamaru. Consequently, we will provide transport for the c. 120 minute trip from Dunedin airport to Oamaru on Monday 23rd November and from Oamaru to Dunedin airport after the close of the conference on Friday 27th November, at a cost of $10 one-way. We recommend you make your travel arrangements early. There will be a place on the registration form for you to indicate whether or not you require transport between Dunedin Airport and the conference venue.PLEASE NOTE: If you require transport from Dunedin Airport, please email p.upton_at_gns.cri.nz with your travel details. We cannot organise a seat for you if you do not tell us when you are arriving/leaving.
Monday 23rd November
There are several flights to Dunedin from Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. We will met the flights coming into Dunedin on the Monday before 6pm. Where there are two flights arriving within half an hour or so of each other, we'll met the two flights together. We will want to fill up our minivans driving up to Oamaru so people may have to wait in Dunedin for a bit until the van is full.
NOTE the actual times of the vans/buses will depend on how many people are on each flight and we won’t know this until closer to the conference.
Friday 27th November
On the Friday, we will have a van leaving at about 2pm (this maybe slightly before the conference has finished) to catch the 4:50 DUD-WGN flight and a bus or vans leaving from 2:30pm to catch the other flights leaving from DUD on Friday evening.
Fieldtrips Pre- and post-conference fieldtrips start or finish respectively in Dunedin and/or go via Dunedin airport. If you have questions about the transport arrangements at the start or end of these fieldtrips, please get in touch with the individual fieldtrip organiser.
